8-day coach trip in Belgium | France – group trip, from 15 people
Follow in Vincent van Gogh’s footsteps from the Borinage mining region in Belgium – where he worked as a lay preacher – to Paris, where he went to live with his brother Theo in Montmartre in 1886. It was in Paris that Vincent discovered other leading artists including Monet, Gauguin and Pissarro. Explore the streets of the City of Light and visit the fascinating Musée d’Orsay: home to Dr Gachet’s remarkable Van Gogh collection and works by Van Gogh’s friends and contemporaries.
Continue following the artist’s journey into the Provence: the region of bright light, pleasant weather and – of course – sunflowers. In and around Arles, you will visit various locations that inspired Vincent to paint works including the world-famous Terrace of a Café at Night (Place du Forum) and The Langlois Bridge. You will also visit Saint-Rémy-de-Provence and Saint-Paul-de-Mausole, the psychiatric clinic to which Vincent admitted himself in 1889. This 8-day art trip ends at the cemetery in Auvers-sur-Oise, the final resting place of Vincent and Theo.
