Van Gogh Europe Foundation

Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) is one of the world's most loved artists. His paintings, drawings and letters inspire people of all ages. His work can be admired in numerous museums around the world. Many places where the artist lived and worked can be visited, from the Netherlands to the South of France. About 23 organisations and museums in the Netherlands, Belgium, France and England have joined forces under the name Van Gogh Europe. Together they are actively engaged in maintaining and promoting Van Gogh’s heritage.

Mission Van Gogh Europe

The Van Gogh Europe Foundation is a network of collaborating European locations and collections associated with Vincent van Gogh’s life and work. It aims to make Van Gogh’s cultural heritage accessible to a wide audience, in order to inspire, unite and engage current and future generations.

PBO Van Gogh Europe

The Van Gogh Europe Foundation is a Dutch cultural Public Benefit Organisation (PBO), an organisation that does at least 90% of its work for public benefit. Van Gogh Europe connects heritage sites and museums that are closely linked to the life and work of Vincent van Gogh. Currently, ten museums and ten heritage sites from more than fifteen cities and four countries have joined forces within the Van Gogh Europe network.
The Van Gogh Europe Foundation aims to make Van Gogh’s European cultural heritage accessible to a wide audience in order to inspire, unite and engage current and future generations. This is done, among other things, by telling and sharing the life story of Vincent van Gogh through the locations where he lived or worked, and the museums which have works by him in their collections. This takes place both live and online. We actively seek partnerships with young people through projects with European (Business) Schools such as ISC Paris, ESSEC, Business School Amsterdam and the University of Leuven in Belgium. 

Tax Advantages for Donors to Cultural PBOs

Donors to cultural PBOs are allowed extra tax deductions for gifts. Private individuals who pay tax in the Netherlands can multiply a gift to a cultural PBO in their income tax return by 1.25 and deduct it as a gift. Companies that pay corporate income tax in the Netherlands are allowed to deduct 1.5 times the amount of such a donation in their corporate income tax return. This makes it even more attractive to make a donation to the Van Gogh Europe Foundation.
